Friday Finds: Joyous Health

I adore Joy McCarthy and her blog.

Joy’s blog, Joyous Health is well worth visiting.  Trust me.    Each blog post is a health tip that you can practically implement immediately.  And if it’s not a health tip, it’s most likely a recipe that is healthy and easy to make.  Does it get any better?

Yes!  It does get better.

Joy likes to do video blog posts every now and then.  I love this because sometimes I just want a break from reading.  Sometimes it’s easier to watch a video blog post with two little ones running around (and seeing Joy’s complexion motivates me to take better care of myself).

Here’s a list of a few of Joy’s tips that I’ve implemented:

  • start each day with a glass of lemon water (approximately half  a lemon squeezed into a glass of water)
  • use coconut oil to make your skin shine (an all-natural and chemical-free skin product)
  • eat your greens – Pete and I have finally started putting spinach in our morning smoothies (trust me you can’t even tell when it’s mixed with some frozen fruit)
  • eat more raw foods (I try to make a conscious effort to ensure that all of us have raw veggies or fruits with every meal)

So perhaps none of this is new to you?  I find sometimes I need a reminder.  And in this case, I need someone to remind me.  JOY!

Joy and I are actually following each other on Twitter and I’ve retweeted, but I don’t think I can’t recall if I checked out her blog yet. Thanks for the reminder, Maggie. I love how you shared what you’ve done that is working for you. Such simple changes can make a huge difference. I love green smoothies. My smoothie this morning included a ton of stuff: spinach, baby romaine, green cabbage, banana, apples, pineapple, POM juice, chia seeds, coconut milk, and cocoa. Usually they don’t have quite that many ingredients, but oh boy, it was good. 🙂

Wow Shirley – sounds like you cleaned out your fridge! Good idea. I find my shakes are like treats, they’re just so yummy! Liv loves them too, Callum is a skeptical little 3 and a half year old. He’ll acquire his taste soon enough!
