  • Deliciously Dark Pan Gravy

Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Pan Gravy I don't know about you, but there has to be gravy on my holiday table.  I think it's just years and years of conditioning. These days though, Pete and I don't smother our turkey in traditional gravy.  Instead we drizzle our stuffed squash in deliciously healthier gluten-free and dairy-free gravy. In the past we've made this gravy. More recently we've been making this gravy, but it's always nice to have a few gravy recipes in your repertoire. B...
  • Grain-Free Sesame-Almond Crackers

I’ve been fighting a nasty cold for two weeks now. Every couple of days I get a little break where I feel close to my normal self. But this week I had a major setback. I woke up with incredible sinus pain (the day after Livvie’s 2nd birthday!) and realized I had my first sinus infection. A trip to my Naturopath quickly healed the sinus pain but the next morning I woke up with double earaches. Yes. Each ear was aching! Say that ten times fast. And so the blog had to wait this week ...
  • Gluten-Free & Veggie Chili

Hallowe'en is around the corner and Diane from The W.H.O.L.E. Gang is hosting this month’s Go Ahead Honey, It’s Gluten-Free.  Diane's theme is Scared Silly.  She wanted us to create something using an ingredient we once feared. Well people, I used to fear beans.  I knew nothing about them and therefore never ate them or cooked them. Growing up my Dad and my sister and I used to sing the song Beans beans the musical fruit, the more you eat…well you get the idea. So why would a ...
  • Gluten-Free and Vegan Pumpkin Bread

Always look on the bright side. In the past year I have learned so much about substitutions. I was actually forced to learn when my then 3 year old was diagnosed with gluten, dairy, and egg sensitivities. Holy moly that was a stressful week. Thankfully, my husband Pete was already gluten-free due to a celiac diagnosis in 2004. While we were feeling a little bit stressed (can ya blame me), at the same time Pete and I were relieved. We finally had an answer for some of the difficulties ...
  • Roasted Butternut Squash Dip

Have you noticed that little kids LOVE to dip? In fact, who doesn’t love to dip? I find it so hard to avoid the dip section of the appetizer table. Most dips are made with dairy, which doesn’t sit well with me anymore. Sometimes I have to physically pull my own hand away from the dip. Seriously. Even though I know it’s not good for my tummy, I still really want to dip my cauliflower into that lovely little bowl of creamy goodness. So what’s my solution? I bring my own dip ...
  • Gluten-Free and Vegan Apple Bread

Easy Apple Bread – Gluten-Free and Vegan When I was doing my Teacher's Education I lived in Vancouver, British Columbia. At the same time, my good friend Amy was doing her Masters on Vancouver Island in Victoria, B.C. These were the days. We had so much freedom and we were, in a way, finding ourselves out West while accomplishing higher education. Perfect, no? Amy and I would get together on the weekends; she would ride the ferry to Vancouver or I would ride the ferry to Victoria. It ...

Are you lucky enough to frequent a Farmer's Market? We have an amazing Farmer's Market that the babes and I visit with my Mom every Saturday and every Wednesday.
