Homemade Disinfectant and a Plant Therapy Essential Oils

Plant Therapy Giveaway She Let Them Eat Cake 2

I am super excited to be sharing one of my new favorite companies with you.  Plant Therapy is a company that sells 100% pure essential oils.

I’ve been using essential oils for about 4 or 5 years.  We use them in the bath, in our laundry, with the humidifier, and to clean our house (scroll down to see my recipe for Homemade Disinfectant).

Plant Therapy Giveaway She Let Them Eat Cake

Here’s some information about Plant Therapy:

“Plant Therapy was founded with one goal in mind… we want to provide the highest quality essential oils (and accessories) at a price that everyone can afford. Plant Therapy provides oils that are 100% pure, undiluted and therapeutic grade. We source each oil from top suppliers around the world, buy in large volume, and negotiate the best prices possible.”

Check out my recipe for a Homemade Disinfectant.  It’s more economical than most commercial cleaners, not to mention, much safer. Our bodies are inundated with chemicals – in our food, our air, our water, our clothing, etc… It’s time for us to step back and look at where we can easily eliminate some of those chemicals.  Essential oils will help you get started.

Homemade Disinfectant

I got this recipe from a friend of mine who is a Naturopathic Doctor.
She uses it to disinfect her office and toys between client visits.

10 drops of oregano oil (a natural disinfectant.)
10 drops of tea tree oil
1/2 litre of water
5 drops of an essential oil (I use orange)

1. Place all ingredients in a spray bottle, shake gently to combine.
2. Store in a dark cupboard, away from sunlight.

I use lavender when I can’t sleep. A few drops on a tisuue on your pillow helps. I also douse a scald type burn with lavender. I find it helps healing. I also use it on cuts.

Thanks for the great tips Charlotte. Do you dilute it first in a carrier oil for burns or cuts?

I would love to start using essential oils especially for chemical free cleaning. We have multiple allergies at our house and the oils are hard to find in our small town. The collection looks wonderful :)

I use vinegar diluted with water to clean with. My family doesn’t like the odor so I add lavender and everyone is happy.

This is such a fun giveaway Maggie! I’ve been using tea tree oil for years – first tried it in homemade skincare, but it also makes a great cleaner. I’ve tried so many others, but to be honest, I’ve fallen off the homemade wagon. I need to get back into it!

I LOVE Plant Therapy! I use headache frequently, and also use it for my son’s allergies. Another favorite is DigestAid. I am Gluten Intolerant, and when I have some accidental exposure DigestAid helps VERY quickly and effectively. :)

I have recently started using lavender in my children’s bath water as way to promote relaxing and calmness. I make sure and use it each bath time with my oldest child who was diagnosed with ADHD when she was five. It really helps her. I even use it in my bath water if I have had a stressful day. I want to learn to use more essential oils and winning this give away would ensure that I am able to.

Michelle W April 10, 2013 at 12:32 pm

I would use my Essential Oils for cleaning and deoderizing my home! Also would use it for body/hair caire (if safe enough, to).
