Adopt a Gluten-Free Blogger

This month I decided to participate in an online gluten-free bloggers challenge!  Here’s how it works:

1.  I choose a gluten-free blogger whose recipes I want to try.

2.  I pick one or two recipes to make in my own kitchen!

3.  I make the recipe(s) and take some glorious pictures.

4. I write a blog post about my experiences and include a link to the original recipe for my lovely readers.

I stumbled upon this cool challenge at The Book of Yum. Here’s a link to the challenge. Check out her great blog while you’re there. And if you’re a blogger, give this challenge a try. It was really fun for me and it got me trying something new. I felt like I needed that – we all know what a mid-Winter funk can be like!

So here I am!

I chose Heather from Life, Gluten Free .  You might remember reading about her in one of my Friday Finds columns.  Click here for a refresher.

I chose Heather because she’s a mom blogger (with an adorable little kitchen helper) and her recipes are super healthy.  I love reading about the ingredients she chooses to use and her experiences.  She often posts about working with raw food. There’s one raw recipe that I really wanted to try, but I chickened out!  Maybe next month.

When I saw her fudge recipe I thought it would be perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day.  A healthy treat for our sweethearts.

I made it exactly as Heather did.  Here’s the ingredients you will need, but if you want to see the recipe you’ll have to visit her site.

Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips (2 bags)

Sunflower oil

Sunflower Seed Butter (yummy)

Honey

We really enjoyed these.  They were a tasty and healthy treat for all of us.

I loved adding the sunflower seed butter.  It was easy and who doesn’t love peanut butter and chocolate (sunflower seed butter is a lot like natural peanut butter)?  Pete and I both thought they were more like a chocolate bar than a piece of fudge.  Either way, it’s a win-win don’t ya think?
